Email Deliverability Director

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Email Deliverability Director to ensure our email marketing campaigns reach inboxes effectively. This role will be responsible for optimizing deliverability rates and analyzing email performance to troubleshoot issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of email deliverability best practices, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to implement strategies to avoid spam filters and improve overall email performance.

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a strong familiarity with modern AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and other generative AI platforms, using them to enhance efficiency, improve workflows, and support strategic decision-making across the organization. A commitment to ongoing learning and experimentation with emerging technologies is essential, ensuring the ability to adapt and innovate as the capabilities of AI continue to evolve rapidly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on email deliverability metrics across multiple ESPs (Email Service Providers).
  • Maintain high inbox placement rates by troubleshooting and resolving deliverability issues.
  • Work closely with email marketing, IT, and data teams to optimize email sends and maintain a healthy sending reputation.
  • Manage sender reputation, domain authentication, and IP warm-up strategies to ensure high deliverability.
  • Perform regular audits of email campaigns and configurations, including list hygiene, spam traps, and bounces.
  • Collaborate with email teams to ensure compliance with regulations such as CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other anti-spam laws.
  • Create and implement strategies to reduce bounce rates, improve open rates, and maximize engagement.
  • Act as the point of contact for all deliverability-related issues, working with third-party vendors and ISPs as necessary.
  • Report on email deliverability trends and provide actionable recommendations to improve results.
  • Conduct A/B testing and analyze deliverability impacts based on various variables like subject lines, sending time, content, etc.
  • Educate internal teams on email best practices to ensure optimal deliverability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in email deliverability, email marketing, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of email protocols such as DKIM, SPF, DMARC, and feedback loops.
  • Hands-on experience with major ESPs (Hubspot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.).
  • Proficiency in email deliverability tools such as Return Path, 250ok, or similar.
  • Familiarity with email list hygiene best practices and techniques for maintaining healthy lists.
  • Ability to interpret data and produce actionable insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with high-volume email campaigns or enterprise-level email programs.
  • Knowledge of email security and compliance best practices.
  • Certifications in email marketing or deliverability.
